Known as the birthplace of Shakespeare, it’s a city with centuries of history that you can see to this day. Plus, with places like the beautiful Cotswolds nearby, it’s easy to take a bigger trip while touring this part of England.

I totally loved visiting Stratford-upon-Avon, especially since so many of the best places are so well preserved. It’s almost like being transported back in time to the 16th century!

The restored house right in the heart of the city is stunning and dates back hundreds of years. You see, this is a place where Shakespeare was born and lived his early life before going to the bright lights of London. Well, I say bright lights, London was probably pretty dark in the 17th century!

Once inside, peek into Shakespeare’s family life while getting curious at the same time Library and study so epic to see. It’s so surreal to just stand there and think that Shakespeare grew up here and wrote his first words!

Would you like a cup of coffee? Head to Fourteas (Sheep Street), the quaintest tea room that serves loose leaf teas and homemade rolls!

2.) Holy Trinity Church

Not only that, this is exactly the place Shakespeare was baptized, Anne Hathaway married and buried. Make sure you see the Holy Trinity Window (which is breathtaking) and Shakespeare’s tomb too.

Then head to Loxley’s for delicious wines and seasonal menus that are too good to miss. Book a table in advance, especially on weekends.

3.) Anne Hathaway’s Cottage

To the strangers, Anne Hathaway (no, not the actress) was Shakespeare’s wife and the cottage was her perfect home where she lived in the area.

But watch out for your head, these medieval ceilings are low and you will come across a bump. I swear people must have been significantly smaller in the past!

4.) Stratford Butterfly Farm

Would you like to flutter with the butterflies? Then go straight to Stratford Butterfly Farm right on the Avon River. With thousands of butterflies and a beautiful glass house, you can get up close and personal with these different species and species Varieties of free-flying butterflies.

It’s a great place to relax, very and family friendly. Just be sure to watch your step, lots of butterflies relax on the paths.

It is a place not to be missed, especially for the beautiful garden with the medicinal herbs that Susanna’s husband used for his remedies. It’s an interesting place with a lot of exhibits, which is very nice especially on sunny days.

Plus, it’s easy to visit Hall’s Croft at the same time as visiting Holy Trinity Church – they’re just a short walk away from each other.

Make sure to stroll the High Street and Sheep Street to visit the beautiful boutiques and restaurants like the Hathaway Tea Rooms (for their delicious cakes).

On the way you will see Harvard House was built in 1596 and is the ancestral home of John Harvard, the founder of America’s most famous university, Arizona State (jokes, I mean Harvard).

The city center is totally quaint.
