The first new location is scheduled to open in May. According to Backcountry, businesses will be focused on delivering personal customer service, unforgettable experiences, and building the backcountry community across the country.

“Backcountry has always tried to connect people with their passions through the best equipment and expertise we have to offer,” said Melanie Cox, CEO of Backcountry, in a press release. “With our retail locations, we want our customers to have the equipment, knowledge, and confidence they need to get outside.”

Backcountry’s online shopping experience is based on the “personalized, expert-driven customer service” known as gearheads. This, the brand says, will be an integral part of the way Backcountry runs its personal retail stores as well.

“At each new retail location, customers can now meet with a backcountry gearhead for personal, concierge-like outdoor advice,” the brand told GearJunkie.

The announcement of entering the retail business space is possibly the biggest news for the company since its inception own exclusive brand line.
