Dometic CCF-T: With the console cooler, you always have cold drinks at hand

Home »Adventure» Dometic CCF-T: Console cooler offers cold drinks at your fingertips

This console radiator for your car is possibly the greatest invention in a long time.

I have gone on all of my adventures in the past year – Mountain bike trailheads in the northeast almost every summer and autumn weekend as well as two rounds in the field. For most of these trips, I had to pull over to get a cold drink from my cooler, which was in my back seat or on the passenger wheel.

Then I turned my center console into a cooler too Dometics CCF-Tthat brings cold drinks and chilled snacks to my fingertips, no ice required.

In summary: If you can endure a minor modification to a light vehicle – drilling a hole in your center console – the Dometic CCF-T offers your Ford serious convenience. Of course, it also adds a $ 600 hit to your wallet, but if long road trips are planned for your Ford pickup or expedition, it might be worth it.

The innovative capacity of 12 cans Dometic CCF-T center console refrigerator Integrates seamlessly into the center console, exactly where I can safely reach it while driving.

The front of the refrigerator has an on / off switch. When the refrigerator is on, a snowflake will light up with a blue LED. When it’s off, the snowflake is dark. However, it is okay to leave it on all the time as the CCF-T will automatically shut off as soon as the vehicle battery reaches 12V.

The next time I parked my truck with the refrigerator on and the next time I started the engine, the refrigerator would automatically turn on. It is worth noting that you cannot adjust the temperature of the CCF-T. It is factory set to 37 ° F and Dometic says it fluctuates between 32 ° F and 41 ° F.

The refrigerator took about 30 minutes to install, and the only stressful part was cutting a hole in the center console for the refrigerator fan with a hole saw – because I cut a hole in my truck.

I followed the instructions that came with the refrigerator and it installed seamlessly – ready to roll. Don’t worry, no wiring is required. The refrigerator plugs into a 12 V socket in the console.

A low-noise, energy-saving, vehicle-approved compressor drives the 7.5-liter refrigerator, making it virtually silent.

No more additional steps

“We saw the opportunity to develop a product that in the past we only made for OEMs on expensive high-end vehicles. We wanted to offer consumers the same thing through an aftermarket self-installation option to bring the convenience of the center console refrigerator to a wider consumer base, ”said Tim Hall, Vice President, Commercial Vehicles, Dometic. “Anyone who experiences the benefit of having cold drinks and food readily available in their vehicle loves it.”

He’s right. At the end of every mountain bike tour, I had cold drinks. I was able to grab a seltzer while driving. And my sandwich wasn’t baking in the sun in my car all day.

The console cooler eliminates the need to locate a cooler, load it with ice packs or ice, drinks and groceries, and then load it into the car. Now I just put a six-pack and snacks in my console and I’m on my way.

The cooler has two USB charging ports on the front. I never used them because I have USB ports in my truck. And when a telephone or other charging cable is connected to the Dometic, I have to keep the cover of the center console open because my center console does not have a cable connection.

The only downside to having a cooler in my center console is that I can no longer use that space as a garbage drawer in the car. But I’ve found that there are plenty of other places I can stash the gear that I kept there.
