To adjust. Develop. Come together Arc’teryx started its training course to bring people out into the backcountry. And yet it is now happening online.

This season could be the biggest year in the backcountry Participation, Activity and travel. Fortunately, the Arc’teryx Academy is here to keep our skills (and our abilities) updated. The Arc’teryx climbing academy Looked a little different in 2020 as it had to go virtual (although the clinics were still as helpful as ever).

This month, Arc’teryx is adapting its digital education platform to another popular biannual theme – the backcountry.

The Arc’teryx Backcountry Academy 2021 will take place online for the third time in Jackson Hole, Wyo. But that’s ok. The academy has a multitude of events, film screenings and clinics planned.

“If this year were like any other, we’d be waxing our skis and preparing to head to Jackson Hole, Wyoming to welcome you to the Backcountry Academy as we did in previous years,” wrote Arc’teryx.

“Unfortunately, COVID-19 requires a gear change. We have decided to adapt and develop our events to serve the safety and wellbeing of our community. “

Arc’teryx Backcountry Academy: What’s New for 2021?

Similar to the Arc’teryx Academies in the past, this year film screenings, panel presentations, a photo workshop and a podcast series will be offered – all free of charge.

The week-long course focuses on a variety of backcountry living topics, such as dos and don’ts and, perhaps most importantly, avalanche safety. In fact, Arc’teryx is eliminating its standard clinics and providing access to Avalanche safety and Skiing / mountaineering Courses instead.

From February 8th you will receive a 50% discount on the Avalanche Education Clinic or the Ultimate Guide to Backcountry Skiing and Ski Mountaineering Clinic, which is taught by an IFMGA-certified mountain guide. You will also have access to more information from Arc’teryx ambassadors and experts hosted on digital platforms such as YouTube and Zoom.

Arc’teryx’s first digital backcountry academy will take place February 8-12, 2021. Learn more or register here.
