It is not often that a captain of a fishing boat is also a skier. But for McKenna Peterson, that’s just life.
“I fish because I love to fish,” says McKenna Peterson in this short film excerpt. And she goes on to tell the story of how both fishing and skiing provide connected lifestyles in her native Alaska.
In 2017, Peterson’s father passed away and she took the place of captain on her family’s fishing boat. With the help of her siblings, she has been running the salmon fishing business in Southeast Alaska ever since. And her skiing has been shaped by her fishing as well as her father’s wisdom.
