After filmmakers Josh Lowell and Peter Mortimer achieved success with the Reel Rock Film Tour, a traveling showcase of short films about climbers and their greatest accomplishments, they decided to reach a larger audience. This is how the Reel Rock TV series was born. The show presents climbing and mountaineering adventures in an episodic format, often with great athletes like Alex Honnold and Adam Ondra. Episodes combine the visually stunning production and the sets of the film tour with the exchange of short stories about climbers and climbing culture around the world. This year, Outside TV will broadcast the first five seasons in their entirety. Make sure to check out the special multi-part series that covers specific climbing feats such as Chris Sharma’s first ascent of the dramatic Es Pontàs in the Mediterranean and Honnold and Tommy Caldwell’s attempt to set the speed climbing record on the El Capitan Nose Route. Find the show on Outside TV + every Friday at 8 p.m. EDT starting May 7th.
