Rupin Move Trek: Why the Chainsheel Valley Drive is So Particular

Arjun Majumdar clearly remembers the night his car broke down in the middle of the Chaainsheel Valley. There was no soul. At the bottom, about 20 kilometers away, Rohrus lights twinkled like diamonds scattered across a dark floor.

| Rohru is a city on the Pabbar River. It is approximately 115 km from Shimla in Himachal Pradesh. As you head towards Rupin Pass Base Camp – Jiskun, cross Himachal Pradesh to Uttarakhand as you cross the Chaaisheel Valley.

Not many travel this route and it should have been cause for concern for Arjun. To be stranded in the middle of nowhere. But Arjun was delighted.

“I was so happy to be there. In the middle of this beautiful Chaainsheel Valley at midnight. Maybe I am one of the few who have seen this. “

It’s not just about being on the mountain meadows. The whole experience of driving through the countryside is fascinating. Because of this, Sandhya UC, who has traveled extensively in the most remote areas of the Himalayas, counts her as one of her favorite trips.

A hike in fast forward

“I don’t think many understand how unique and mind-blowing this drive is. It’s like fast-forwarding a hike. You drive past dense rhododendron forests and then into the lush meadows this route miles ahead of you. Imagine driving in the middle of such a landscape.

To add this, you drive almost at 11,000 feet, at the elevation of Dhanderas Thatch (11,700 feet) on the Rupin Pass Trail. In fact, you can even see Dhanderas Thatch from one point on this ride, ”she says.

The sparkle in her eyes says it all.

Waiting for the drive to start

The road through the Chainsheel Valley has been terrible in the past. But it got better. Therefore, instead of going from Dehradun to Dhaula, We prefer to drive from Shimla to Jiskun. It makes for a very pleasant and picturesque start to the hike.

For this trip only, we are eagerly awaiting the start of the Rupin Pass season (May-June).

| Note: You can even hike the Chaainsheel Valley if you have extra days on hand.

The Chaainsheel Valley Trek offers a lot more. On the way to the Rupin Pass you will get a good insight. And to add perspective I leave you a quick video where Arjun talks about the hike.
