The event from snurfing to snowboarding

Looking back at the beginnings of snowboarding, which was called snurfing and popularized by inventor Sherman Poppen in Muskegon, Michigan in 1965, Made in the Mitten follows the powerful history of this winter sport. Burton founder Jake Burton Carpenter coined the term snowboarding and developed the first snowboard setup as a riff on Poppen’s stand-up cut novelty. His concept – a simple binding system for both feet – legitimized the now popular pastime. This story is Brought by New Holland Brewing Co., Burton, and filmmaker Zeppelin Zeerip.
