What we thought
This is my first article about Trespass clothing and the jacket has definitely exceeded my expectations. I wore the Matilda in many weather hikes in all weather. Of bright and relatively warm days to cold and wet days, it has proven highly effective in all conditions.
The jacket has large outside pockets, which meant for shorter walks on site. I had to take no bag, because in my pockets is enough space for my phone, my face mask, keys and cash.
The jacket has a waterproof rating of 8,000mm and is also breathable. In the Peak District last weekend the weather was pretty bad! I got into some heavy rains and remained trapped hooded warm and dry.
The jacket coped well with about 20 minutes of very heavy rain
In addition to the water-tightness especially the breathability of the jacket I was impressed.
On mountain hikes can be quite warm me even in cold weather often resulting in overheating, but the breathability of Matilda is excellent. On cold and windy days, I could wear a thick sweater underneath when walking like while I was wearing underneath on warmer days a thinner shell and realized that I was not overheated.
Trespass Matilda waterproof softshell jacket for women
The length of the jacket makes it perfect for bad weather. It extends well below the hips and covered my butt completely. This makes this jacket one of the longest that I have, and is ideal to sit on damp surfaces.
The sleeves have a very generous size, which means that you wear layers and can still move freely. They have a Velcro on the cuffs, so you can pinch them if you want.
I was looking for a decent jacket that I could use every day. I have a few outdoor jackets that I would grab me for a day hike in the hills, and I have jackets that I would wear for an evening, but nothing in between.
Glamping on a trip with the Matilda
The styling of Matilda, especially in black, meaning that it has a versatile look that and is suitable for walks in the country to strap to go to stores.
Looks wise, the jacket is quite simple and has no outstanding features, with a subtle Trespass branding on the sleeve and a bag. I like the high neck on the jacket which is great for keeping out the cold and rain in bad weather, but I found that I had to zip up my buff with the zipper at the top to avoid it rubbing against my chin.
- Excellent breathability, I never overheating when I wear the Matilda
- Great long length for good coverage in bad weather
- 2 high funnel neck and a good hood to keep out wind and rain
- Huge pockets into which you can fit a lot
- The jacket’s sleeves are wide enough for you to wear layers underneath
- Huge selection of sizes from XXS to XXXL
- Very good seal
- The hood can be easily pinched, to achieve a tight fit, ideal in bad weather
- I would love to add a few more styling features as the jacket is pretty plain
- I found the high neck rubbing my chin by the time I finished all the way up
practicability 4.5 / 5
value 4.5 / 5
Overall rating (4/5)
This is a truly versatile soft shell jacket that is easy to carry and ideal for cooler, wet weather. In recent weeks, it was my favorite jacket for autumn walks, but I have found that it is also perfect for everyday use. I am also very impressed by the fact that it is 20 available in such a large range of sizes from 6 to UK UK.
Hiking in the Peak District in the Matilda
I’m not sure if I would extend me personally on the full price of the jacket, but it is currently being offered for £ 64.99, which I think is a fair price for what provides the Matilda.
I really can not complain about the quality of the Trespass Matilda and it’s great to be able to wear a jacket that does not lead to overheating, me but still very effective protection against the weather.
