For many hunters, archery season is just around the corner. And for those of us in elk country, that means big bugles and big opportunity. But for new hunters, it can also mean a bit of intimidation once an animal is on the ground and ready to be processed.

When I set off on my first big solo hunt in 2017, I had no idea how to quarter an animal alone. So, to the annals of YouTube I went, and there, my friend Randy Newberg had a video that walked me through the process. I watched a few different videos to get the hang of it, but this half-hour in-depth resource proved invaluable once I had my first solo-hunt success on the ground.
